2018: a year to strengthen your relationship with your self

a few years ago i got a bit interested in numerology and the meaning of the ‘universal year’ number. it was 2016 – a ‘9 year’, a year of endings – and i was fascinated to look back on the 9 year cycle which began in 2008... to think about what i started then and what i was ready to end... and i found that the theme of ‘finishing’ served me well as i ended off 2016 and got ready for 2017 – a ‘1 year’, a year of beginnings.

by the way, i am not a numerologist, i am no expert at this stuff, but i do find it interesting to consider the meaning of the universal year number and to explore what it might mean for me. i've included links below to some of the interesting bits & pieces i've read, and if you have insight to share, please do!

so... 2018 is an 11/2 universal year. when you add up the numbers 2 + 0 + 1 + 8 you get 11, a master year, and then if you add 1 + 1 you get 2.

the number 11 is considered a master number with high vibration and high potential for learning, growth, and transformation.

the number 1 is associated with self, personal power, leadership, and intuition. and with two 1s there is even higher potential and intensity in this area.

the number 2 is associated with relationships, partnership, love, harmony, balance.

for me, i see the theme for 2018 as being about that magic combination of relationship + self.

i recently read something about a hierarchy of relationships in that puts your relationship with yourself first and foremost, and then next comes your relationship with god/spirit, and then finally your relationship with others. that was an AHA moment for me... as all too often i think we put others first and ourselves last, and can often completely ignore our need for a relationship to a higher power. so i do think it is interesting to consider that hierarchy of relationships.

and with this universal 11/2 energy for 2018 i think this is the perfect time to focus on the relationship we are cultivating with ourselves… with our physical selves and our higher selves, with our emotional, energetic, and mental selves… to focus on self-love & self-leadership, and embodying our highest, brightest selves.

self-leadership is all about fostering self-confidence, self-worth, self-esteem, self-belief, self-motivation, self-reliance, self-trust, self-fulfilment, self-responsibility, self-awareness, self-guidance… and any other ‘self’ word you can think of!

when i think of the word ‘self-leadership’ – i think of it as a reminder to be your own leader… to take yourself by the hand, pull yourself up outta the muck and the stuckness, rise up by yourself, for yourself and take steps forward to do what it is you say you want for yourself.

because you are the hero you’ve been waiting for.

let that be a mantra for 2018.

have a think about your intentions for the year (your goals, plans, resolutions, etc.) and now look at them through that lens of self-love and self-leadership, of being your own hero and trusting your higher self.

how can you use the energy of the year to enhance the intentions you have already set or create some new ones?
